Who am I
am I the athlete
or am I the writer
the boy that ] deceives and manipulate
or the son with the good grades
the intern at highland
the guy that is going to college
the next African American president
Am I?
Will I?
afraid to fail
afraid to let people down
afraid to make mistakes
but I am faithful
I will not give up
I will not quit
I will make a stand
I am strong
It might be people
that try to break me
I won't make it out to be
a big thing
I am an African American male
that is going to make
so many plans and decisions
I know my plans til 28
but I need plans
to make it everyday
live the now
save the later
improve myself
or lie and cheat
and stop others from succeeding
being conceited and harsh or
or make the world a better place
and make a change
instead of being in the way

Where I'm From

I am from the backstreets of Oakland
from the loud police sierings
and the ambulance rush.
I am from the sideshow on seminary
I am from the dealers selling
and the crackheads getting high.
I am from the shooting around the corner
the young teen dead.
i am from the blood of my mom
heart of a bull.
But in the neighborhood that doesn't matter
so be careful and make the right decisions.
So listen and be quick
or you you
ill be in a bad perdicoment.
